Robertson College is looking for a committed Massage Therapy instructor to complement our qualified workforce of educators. You will teach Anatomy I, Physiology and Anatomy II courses and be responsible for preparing and implementing a full educational teaching plan according to the school's requirements. It will be fundamental to provide knowledge and instruction to students while also helping them develop their professional capabilities and skills.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about the job with an ability to reach out to students and create a relationship of mutual trust. They will know how to organize a class and make learning an easy and meaningful process. 

The goal is to help cultivate the students’ interest in the science-based component of Massage Therapy and be their dedicated ally in the entire process of learning and development.


Responsibilities

  • Present lessons in a comprehensive manner and use visual/audio means to facilitate learning
  • Distribute educational content (notes, summaries, assignments, lesson plans, etc.)
  • Contribute to the exam bank, course curriculum, and assignments when necessary
  • Assess and record students' progress and provide grades and feedback
  • Develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge by attending seminars, conferences etc.
  • Self-Assess the pace of delivery of a course, and maintain communication with the Massage Therapy Program Coordinator


Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of work-related experience in the field in which they are teaching and post-secondary credentials related to their teaching assignments, and/or have been massage therapy practitioners in good standing for a minimum of 3 years
  • A degree, diploma, certificate or professional designation
  • 1-year experience instructing in an educational facility
  • Ability to assess students fairly and objectively
  • Willingness to follow the Robertson College policies and procedures
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Academic faculty demonstrate an understanding of adult learning principles and teaching techniques
  • Possess exceptional hands-on skills and the ability to teach those skills to students
  • Assist in helping students develop knowledge, critical thinking skills, and values which enable them to perform the required Performance Indicators for success in the field of Massage Therapy
  • Employ teaching methods and materials which promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the massage therapy field and the relationship between the course(s) to be taught and the education program’s objectives
  • Use a variety of resources, tools, and teaching methods, as appropriate to the course content and the learning needs of their students, and promote active participation by all students
  • Teach and model professional industry standards of practice, codes of conduct, and boundaries including standard hygiene and draping practices
  • Supervise students and be present and available for immediate consultation at all times when students are performing massage
  • Engage in ongoing professional development in technical knowledge and instructional skills
