The Radio Broadcasting program prepares graduates for a career in the exciting field of radio. Students will develop skills in communication, production, journalism and advertising for careers working in a radio station. (listed below are examples of the subjects in this program)
The Business of Radio
This course deals with the language and concepts of radio broadcasting. Students will be introduced to an overview of radio broadcasting history, station organization and operations, past and present technologies, format development, career opportunities and terminology.
Communications for Radio
This program is designed to help the learner present themselves in a professional manner both written and verbally. This program incorporates both traditional and modern methods of communicating. The learner is also transitioned into proper speaking methods enabling them to present their ideas to both small and large audiences.
Broadcasting Tools (Lab)
Multi track recording and manipulation is a basic skill required of any radio station personnel involved in the production of the station's product. These labs will give the students a solid grounding in an industry standard software.
Voice Development
This course will train the student to make their voice a powerful tool for achieving the outcomes they want. Using practical, easy-to-apply techniques, they will learn how to make their voice more expressive, captivating and persuasive.
Production for Broadcasting
Production for Broadcasting is a lecture course designed to introduce the student to the terminology and production procedures used in radio production. Students will be instructed in the use of radio production
equipment and the techniques used in
producing various types of radio
programming.

Advertising for Radio & Beyond
This course will provide students with knowledge on essential issues that are shaping contemporary communications practice. This course has a strong emphasis on strategic planning and how marketing plans, marketing communication plans and advertising plans work together.
Broadcast Marketing
An in-depth program focusing on all aspects of marketing in today’s fast paced business world. This course takes the learner deep into the workings of marketing and marketing strategies.
Broadcast Production (Lab)
In this hands-on course students gain abilities in the use of radio production equipment and the techniques used in producing various types of radio programming.
