Students gain industry knowledge in a hands-on, computerized environment. The program is endorsed by CITC Canadian Institute of Travel Counsellors (Educational Standards Division). Robertson graduates are employed in travel agencies, major airlines, tour companies and hotels.
Marine Transportation
In-depth look into the exciting world of the Cruise Industry. Emphasis placed on matching clients to ship, comprehension of cruise line brochures/ships and costing.
Airline Reservations Training
Ticket issuing and client reservations using computer reservation systems, such as Apollo® and Sabre®.
World Destinations and Geography
Geography primer for packaging tourism products; including a look into attractions, safety issues, culture and cuisine at destinations around the world.
Ground Transportation / Car Rental
Travel industry terminology and reservation procedures.
Hotel Accommodation
Hospitality terminology including reservation procedures.
Rail Travel
In-depth look into the three major components of rail travel including VIA Rail, British Rail, and European rail travel.
Domestic & International Tariffs and Ticketing
A detailed look at airline rules and regulations regarding the process of airfares and related documents.
Package Tours
Familiarization with a variety of tour companies and procedures of holiday reservations and pricing.
Travel Insurance
Terminology, coverage and counseling clients.
Practicum
Valuable experience is gained during the two-week practicum. Students work alongside travel professionals and are evaluated on their abilities.
Travel Practicum / Fam trip (Winnipeg campus only)
Familiarization Trip at a destination popular to the Canadian travelling public. Past classes have visited Cuba, Mexico, and various USA destinations.
Tourism Sales
Specialized sales and customer service training related to a variety of Tourism products.
Travel Internet
Designed to develop and enhance one’s research skills with respect to the tourism industry.
Intro to Microcomputers
Covers the history of computers, the computing system and the information processing cycle.
Job Search Techniques
Composition of resumes, cover letters, researching travel employment opportunities and preparing for the interview.
Intro to Keyboarding
Introduce students to the proper use of a keyboard and develop students' keyboarding speed and accuracy. Pacing drills are utilized to develop rhythm and precision in the students' techniques.
Word Processing Word processing software is used to create, store and retrieve documents (such as letters, memoranda, news releases and business reports) that can be edited anytime.
