The phone is ringing and patients are waiting for attention. A doctor has asked you to research some information and you know he needs to have it as soon as possible. There are charts to update, orders to be transcribed and admissions/discharges to be handled. Still, you know that, at any moment, an emergency might arise that puts everything else on hold.

Part of a Team
The Health Care System has a lot of players. Doctors and nurses . . . surgeons and specialists . . . administrators and clerks . . . they all have a role to play. In the end, the system only works because of the teamwork of everyone involved.
That’s where you come in. As a Health Unit Clerk you’re the one who keeps the information and communication flowing. It’s a critical role in a critically serious business. After all, lives could be at stake.

A Skilled Profession
