Robertson’s Medical Laboratory Assistant program at our Brandon campus will prepare you to be a vital member of any medical laboratory. We provide practical, real-life teaching techniques that provide our students with the experience and skills necessary to succeed. We believe that students learn better when instructors actually know who they are and can answer their questions and this is why Robertson's Brandon Campus strives for small class sizes. When you come to Robertson you will experience a learning environment that encourages you to be part of class discussions and treats you as an individual.
At the end of your program, you will participate in a four-week work practicum. Once your practicum has been completed, Robertson’s Career Services will work with you to ensure you find employment after you graduate. Whether it’s after grad or twenty-five years down the road, Robertson’s Career Services will be there to help you with your career. With our Brandon post-grad employment rate of 89%, studying for your new career could not come with less risk.

What is a Medical Laboratory Assistant?
Medical Laboratory Assistants are important to hospitals, private and public health laboratories, clinics, research laboratories, commercial diagnostic supply companies, and insurance companies. They play an integral role in collecting and preparing specimen samples, running simple lab tests and running lab machinery. In this role, you will be assisting other laboratory workers such as Medical Laboratory Technologists.
Our Medical Laboratory Assistant program will teach you how to:
Skillfully collect and prepare specimen samples
Run necessary laboratory machinery
Carefully conduct simple laboratory tests
Handle specimens properly
Effectively sterilize lab equipment
