handling basic clinical tasks helping to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently.
The job description of a medical office assistant varies from office to office. You are
responsible for medical records, bookkeeping, and answering phones. In most small
offices, medical office assistants may handle all these tasks. Depending on the doctor
you work alongside, you may help them examine and treat patients. This can include
checking the height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure of each patient. Graduates
of this program have found work in doctors' offices, hospitals, and medical clinics. Examples of positions
graduates can qualify for are Medical Office Assistant, Clinic Office Assistant, and Medical Secretary.

The Medical Office Assistant program at Robertson College has been designed to provide you with real world
skills. Throughout your program you will understand the role of the Medical Office Assistant, develop
proficiency in medical terminology, clinical procedures, administrative procedures, as well as develop proper
keyboarding skills. In addition, you will become proficient in the use of Microsoft Office. You will also spend
time working hands on to develop your clinical skills.
At the end of your program, you will participate in a four week work practicum. The practicum will provide you an opportunity to apply your newly acquired skills
in a real world setting with the support of your instructor and our Career Services department.
