What is a Pharmacy Assistant?

A Pharmacy Assistant works under the supervision of a Pharmacist and/or Pharmacy Technician. The Pharmacy Assistant plays an integral role in the retail pharmacy. Duties include preparing drug compounds, prepare, package and label prescription medications maintaining proper drug storage and security, provide patients with non-drug product information and prepare and reconcile third party insurance claims.

The Pharmacy Assistant program at Robertson College has been designed to provide you with real world skills in a variety of pharmacy practices. Throughout the program you will be introduced to topics such as Pharmacy Practice, Dispensing, Human Relations and Therapeutic Terminology.

At the end of your program, you will participate in a four week work practicum. The practicum will provide you an opportunity to apply your newly acquired skills in a real world setting with the support of your instructor and our Career Services department.
