Robertson’s Veterinary Office Assistant program at our Calgary campus will prepare you to make a positive impact on animal’s lives. Our hands-on approach to teaching provides our students with real-world experience and equips them with the skills necessary to succeed. Our small class environment allows students a greater opportunity to ask questions, participate in discussion and have instructors who actually know who they are. At Robertson in Calgary, you’re an important individual, not a nameless spectator.
At the end of your program, you will participate in a four-week work practicum. Once your practicum has been completed, Robertson’s Career Services will work with you to ensure you find employment after you graduate. Whether it’s after grad or twenty-five years down the road, Robertson’s Career Services will be there to help you with your career.

What is a Veterinary Office Assistant?
Veterinary Office Assistants provide support to the veterinarian and animal health technicians. They play an integral role in the smooth operation of the veterinarian’s practice. Veterinary Office Assistants deal directly with clients to assess their needs, provide direction and answers questions, manage appointments, perform front desk operations and assist the veterinarian. If you get great satisfaction from being with pets, care about the health of animals, want to help pet owners take care of their loved ones, then this is the career for you.
Our Veterinary Office Assistant program will teach you how to:
Helpfully assist clients and their pets
Efficiently perform administrative tasks such as filing, ordering supplies and answering phones
Feed, exercise and groom patients with care
Properly prepare and sanitize surgery rooms
Clean and maintain examination rooms and storage areas thoroughly
Appropriately restrain and handle patients when needed
