Winnipeg College Campus News

Robertson College continues to be Manitoba’s fastest growing Private Vocational Institute. Located in Winnipeg with over 490 students enrolled in the 2008-2009 school year and growing strong in 2010. The College is located conveniently in Winnipeg’s Exchange district close to bus routes, shopping centers, and restaurants.

The Winnipeg College offers career training in health care, business, and information technology and all programs are under one year in length. Robertson College is a leader in post secondary education and is committed to helping students have success in college.

Upon graduation, students can find jobs in Winnipeg or abroad depending on their chosen career. In addition to offering full time study programs, Robertson College offers online distance education for students interested in part-time studies or are looking for an at home study program. Prospective students who are interested in online study programs are given up to two years to complete their diploma program and most programs qualify for external funding.

Robertson College also offers continuing education programs in the evening such as its Health Care Aide Challenge program. These programs are designed for students who are looking to become certified in their field or upgrade their education to further their careers.

Calgary College Campus News

Beginning in 1911, Robertson College has provided quality vocational training in Western Canada. Almost 100 years later, Robertson College has grown from a secretarial school in Saskatchewan to one of Western Canada’s premier vocational training institutes with campuses in Calgary, Winnipeg and Brandon.

Since opening the Calgary campus in 2004, the campus has grown from offering one program to now offering seven. “Our winter enrollment has increased 27% over last year!” states Keith Kristalovich, the new Campus Director for the Calgary Colleges campus. “We have experienced most of our growth in the Pharmacy Technician and Veterinary Office Assistant programs. Graduates of these programs are highly sought after by Calgary employers.”

Robertson College has recently completed some renovations creating new classrooms and office space to make room for these new programs and increased enrollment. “We are excited about the renovations that just took place,” said Kristalovich. “The added space has allowed us to continue offering small class sizes providing students more one on one time with their instructor.” An additional Pharmacy Technician classroom and lab, extra class space as well as a new admissions area were added to the college. The public is welcome to come down to view the new facility.

The College started three new programs in the fall of 2008 with each program designed to have students career ready in under a year. The Administrative Professional, Legal Administrative Assistant, and Travel Counselor programs are the newest programs to be offered. Each program started in the late fall or early winter with classes offered in the afternoon. With the first classes underway, employers are already asking for these students to come and interview with them, especially in the travel industry. “According to the CITC (Canadian Institute of Travel Counsellors) there is an industry shortage of certified Travel Counselors across the country.” said Kristalovich. “Students who graduate from the Travel Counselor program can enjoy a rewarding career with unlimited potential.”
