Join us for an insightful health Care Industry Talk with Jennifer May Licardo, Education Manager with the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Jennifer will facilitate "A Taste of What It Might Be Like", an experiential activity that simulates some of the cognitive, physical and emotional changes that aging individuals include those with dementia might experience. Exercises in this session will be used to help students understand what a person with dementia may be experiencing. The activities are designed to help students understand their perspectives, examine their attitudes towards people with dementia and to make them more aware of their interactions with the person.
Founded 35 years ago, the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba exists so that all Manitobans affected by dementia receive the help they need today and have hope for the future. As a province-wide organization, the Society seeks to achieve its mission through community awareness; individual, family and professional education; support programs and research funding. As part of the preservice education program, this presentation is one of the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba's contributions to help keep the health care system person-centred, focusing on achieving quality of life for the person with dementia and the family and friends who support them For more information, please visit their website at http://www.alzheimer.mb.ca/.
