What is the Back to School Bonus?

We’re offering a $650 rebate on back-to-school gear to all our new students. To be eligible, all you have to do is enroll before September 31, 2020.

Here are some examples of eligible gear:

  • Laptop
  • Laptop stand
  • Keyboard
  • Mouse
  • Program software
  • Headphones
  • Office chair

You must submit your gear receipts within the first 90 days of your program in order to receive the rebate. So what are you waiting for? Submit your rebate and set yourself up for a successful school year.

Who should enroll?

The real answer to this question is everyone, but not everyone is the same. There are people from all walks of life who aspire to go to school. Whether you want to start your career, build on your current skills or change careers, our online and on-campus programs will hold you accountable and prepare you for your field of choice.

Let’s dive into some of our different students and back-to-school gear that can help them get the most out of their college experience.

The New-to-School Student

This student has never been to a post-secondary institution. Maybe they just graduated from high school or are returning to school after taking a couple years off. They’re nervous for the new chapter but excited to get started and work towards a meaningful career.

Robertson is perfect for first-time students because many of our programs take under a year to complete. With an 88 per cent hiring rate, this means new graduates can get a job in their field in less than a year. You can choose from the School of Health, School of Technology, School of Business, School of Community Services and Robertson Online – we bet there’s a program for everyone.

Products for the New-to-School Student

There’s a lot of preparation that comes with going to school and having the right gear is half the battle. We’re hoping the Back to School Bonus can help take away some of the burden that comes with setting yourself up for the school year. Here are some of our top supply recommendations for new students.

  • MacBook Pro from the Apple Store
    Price: $1,699.00 and up
You’ll need a high quality laptop to keep up with your assignments and projects. We recommend Mac products since they’re compatible with most of our system requirements, however, if you can find another laptop that fits the specs, we’re all for it. Our main recommendation is you find something that fits your needs and will help you study, whether you’re studying online or on campus. The rebate won’t cover the entire cost, but it will help.
  • Laptop Stand/Riser from Best Buy
    Price: $32.99
Chances are, you’ll use your laptop for a large chunk of the day during the school week. A laptop stand will keep your laptop at eye level and prevent you from getting a sore back or neck. You can adjust it to your liking and the best part – if you switch rooms, you can simply bring the stand with you.

The Passionate Parent

Parents have busy lives. Between watching, playing with, feeding and spending time with their kids, they somehow have to juggle work, relationships and take care of themselves. It’s no easy task and even if parents want to go back to school to pursue their passions, they may feel they have no time and their goals are deemed unattainable.

For the Passionate Parent, try Robertson Online. Our online programs don’t have scheduled class times so as long as you meet your weekly goals, you can study when it works best for you. That means you can make time in between feedings, soccer practice or after the kids have gone to bed. The flexibility you get in our online programs is perfect for the parent who wants to pursue their dreams while raising a family.

  • Sony In-Ear Noise Cancelling Wireless Headphones from Best Buy
    Price: $249.99 ($50 off)
If you have rugrats in the house, noise cancelling headphones may be just what you need. These in-ear headphones will block out the noise of a busy household so you can focus when you need to.
  • Tempur-Pedic Office Chair from Staples
    Price: $389.99
You’ll likely be doing your course work at a desk (or the kitchen table) so a comfortable chair is crucial. The Tempur-Pedic material will mold to your body for customized support which will be perfect during long study sessions.

The Upskiller

The Upskiller is all about bettering themselves and is always looking for ways they can build on their current skills. They may already be settled into their career and are looking to bring new skills to their role, or they’re looking to learn something new and try it out before committing to something long-term.

Whatever the reason, our Micro-Courses are a fantastic way to build your skillset on your own time. They allow you to work at your own pace and set your own schedule. When you’re done, you’ll also get to add a Robertson E-Course Certificate to your resume. Choose from our Medical Terminology and Project Management Micro-Courses and get your foot in the door to a meaningful career.

Products for the Upskiller

Upskillers are ready to work and are determined to build their skills quickly so they can apply them in the field. Here are some versatile products to make studying more enjoyable.

  • Bose Headphones from Amazon
    Price: $199
These around-ear wireless Bose headphones are perfect for listening to lectures or simply jamming out while getting work done. Whether you’re studying at home or in a coffee shop, these headphones will help block out background noise so you can focus.
  • Standing Desk Riser for Dual Monitors from Best Buy
    Price: $119.99
This product is awesome for the learner who likes to get on their feet every once in a while. This riser sits on your desk and lets you raise your laptop to your desired height. You can raise it so it’s at eye level when you’re sitting, or you can raise it to full height so you can stand and type. It also holds two monitors so your full setup will move with you.

The Remote Learner

The Remote Learner wants to learn while they live their life. They don’t want campus classes to tie them down to one place. They want to see the world before they settle into their career, so if they have the opportunity to learn wherever they are, they’ll take it. Even though travel is restricted right now, this type of student may take advantage of exploring their own country, as much as they can safely.

For the Remote Learner, Robertson Online is the answer. This is how it works: they can study wherever they are and connect with their peers and instructors through Brightspace, the online learning platform where students access their weekly assignments and course materials. They’ll have the same supports as on-campus learners as everything is virtual – a bonus for a remote student.

Products for the Remote Learner

The Remote Learner will likely use the $650 rebate on gear that will help make distance learning a breeze, no matter where the wind takes them. Here are some must-have products to make remote learning easier for these adventurous students.

  • Wireless Keyboard from Staples
    Price: Varies
The remote learner is always on the move so having a wireless keyboard is super important. Better yet, look for a keyboard that’s super sleek and can easily fit into a laptop bag with your other supplies.
  • Wireless Mouse from Staples
    Price: $39.99
If you have a wireless keyboard, you’re going to want a wireless mouse. Keep an eye out for slim models that are easily transportable and won’t take up too much real estate on your workspace.

The International Studier

We’re lucky to have students come from near and far to study at our college. The International Studier has chosen to come to Canada for their college education which takes a lot of courage. They are looking for a program that will get them hired in their chosen field and if they want to go back to their home country, the less time they have to spend studying, the better. They are eager to learn and ready to give it their all.

There are many programs for our “International Studiers” to choose from and our International Student Services team will help them choose the right program for their goals. Our team is ready to help you start your career journey and guide you through the application process.

Products for the International Studier

The Back to School Bonus would make a huge difference for the International Studier as it’ll take away a chunk of the financial burden that comes with studying abroad. Here are some product recommendations to make studying in Canada a bit easier.

  • Microsoft 365 Software
    Price: Varies
You’re going to need specific software when you study at Robertson and the rebate is the perfect way to help out with those costs.
  • Laptop Table Desk from Best Buy
    Price: $43.25
As a student, your study space is key to feeling focused and comfortable while you work. As an International Studier you may have smaller accommodations (depending on where you’re staying) so a laptop table desk is a great way to utilize your space. It’ll prop your laptop up and give you a spot to keep your mouse and you’ll still have space on your desk to take notes.

Now you have some inspiration on how to set yourself up for success this school year. Remember to enrol before September 31, 2020 in order to qualify for the rebate. We’ll see you soon!
