1. Decorate

This year more than ever we could all use some cheer around the holidays. If you haven’t already, deck out your space with decor that brings you joy.

2. Sing carols

How does that saying go? The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear (thanks Elf). Whether carols are your jam or you prefer belting out some pop tunes, the choice is yours! Any form of at-home karaoke is bound to result in some laughs and good times.

5. Have a board game night

It’s the perfect time of year to play board games, gift board games and receive board games! If you live with others, pick a night and have everyone choose a game to play. If you live alone, here are some single player board games. You could also play video games or try a colouring book.

6. Go for a winter walk

Grab your hat, lace up your boots and bundle up to go for a walk in the snow! Pro tip: wait for a snowfall and it’ll feel like you’re in a snow globe. There are many places to go for winter walks in Winnipeg, Calgary and Edmonton.

7. Take a drive to see Christmas lights

If you’re looking for a safe way to get out of the house, load up the car and check out Christmas lights in your city! If you’re in Winnipeg, check out Candy Cane Lane. 9. DIY a gift for someone you love

Homemade gifts from the heart are an excellent way to show someone you’re thinking about them. It can be something as simple as a scrapbook-style card to a homemade wreath or candle. Here’s your chance to be creative!

10. Video chat with family and friends

The holidays are looking a little different this year. To stay connected with family and friends, schedule a video chat! It’s an easy way to socialize and stay in touch over the holiday season.

11. Write Christmas cards

A fun thing you can do at home is write Christmas cards! Whether you make them yourself or find a fun print, a handwritten letter around the holidays is bound to make someone’s day.

12. Make a holiday playlist

Alexa, play All I Want For Christmas Is You! Create a playlist with your favourite holiday tunes – it’s sure to get you in the spirit! If you live with roommates, take turns playing your favourite songs. Check out Robertson’s playlist on Spotify

13. Donate to those in need

This time of year can be challenging for those less fortunate. If you can afford to, donate new or gently used items to shelters or drives. You could choose to sponsor a child or senior with a Christmas gift or drop off a food hamper for a family in need. This is a great bonding experience and an amazing way to give back to someone in your community during the holidays.

14. Build a snowman

Many of you probably built a snowman when you were a kid. Why not do it again? This activity can bring back the nostalgia and give you a chance to get outside.

15. Start a new tradition

This holiday season is going to be one for the books and more memorable than ever. A great way to commemorate this crazy year is to start a new tradition! It’ll be something you can look back on in years to come and hopefully bring you joy over the years.

However you spend your holidays, we hope you take time to rest and have some fun. From our team at Robertson to you, we wish you happy holidays!
