An Educational Assistant (EA) provides crucial support to teachers and students in an educational setting and works collaboratively with classroom teachers and school personnel. They assist in various tasks such as classroom organization, preparing instructional resources, and providing individualized support to students. They help maintain a positive learning environment by implementing behaviour management strategies, providing assistance during lessons, and supporting students with exceptionalities who require additional support to meet course learning outcomes. The EA role is essential in ensuring the smooth functioning of the classroom and facilitating the academic and personal growth of students.
This program also has a mandatory 160 hour practicum before graduation. When it’s your time to shine, you’ll work with the Workforce team to find a placement that matches your skills and meets your goals. Your practicum is a great way to apply your skills with industry professionals in a real work environment, so when you look for that first job, you’ll have experience in your back pocket.
