Human resources plays an integral role in ensuring workplace culture is healthy and organizations have what they need to maintain and grow a strong, effective team. With our Winnipeg Human Resource Professional diploma program, you’ll gain the skills you need to build a career working at the core of organizations.

Additionally, Human Resource Professionals assist in the implementation and administration of HR policies and procedures. This role supports various HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and benefits administration. Human Resource Professionals play a vital role in fostering a positive work environment and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.

Our Human Resources Professional program is accredited by Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR) Manitoba through their PSI Accreditation Program. 

Upon successful completion of this program, the graduate will be able to:

  • Demonstrate effective communication skills with employees, management, and external stakeholders to ensure transparency and understanding to maintain positive organizational relationships, foster a healthy work environment, and support organizational change and innovation.
  • Exhibit attention to detail when managing employee records, ensuring compliance with labour regulations, and supporting diversity initiatives to ensure accuracy and fairness in HR processes.
  • Analyze how to build positive relationships with employees, management, and external partners through empathy, approachability, and the ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism to support employee well-being and organizational harmony and ensure confidentiality.
  • Analyze how to attract and hire diverse talent to meet organizational goals by developing recruitment strategies, implementing diversity initiatives, and collaborating with hiring managers to build a skilled and inclusive workforce.
  • Describe how to adapt quickly to changes in HR practices, labour laws, and organizational needs to respond effectively to new challenges, support innovation, and facilitate organizational development.
  • Evaluate how to engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated on HR best practices, diversity strategies, and emerging trends in organizational development and innovation to enhance their ability to support a diverse workforce and drive innovation within the organization.

Accounting - 60 Hours

This course provides an introduction to accounting principles, financial statement analysis, budgeting techniques, and tax regulations essential for effective business management. Students will learn to analyze financial statements, prepare financial reports, develop budgeting strategies, and ensure financial integrity in compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

Career Preparation - 40 Hours

This course introduces students to career preparation strategies. Students will be introduced to job search strategies, interviews, and other career management strategies.

Business Communications - 60 Hour

Communication remains an essential skill sought by employers, regardless of discipline or field of study. Using a practical approach, students develop strong oral, written, body language, and presentation skills to become effective business communicators. Students continue to strengthen their writing, speaking, reading, and listening skills, as well as use technology to communicate professionally. Students will use communication technology tools to support operations in the workplace.

Compensation & Benefits - 60 Hours

In this course, students will explore compensation and benefits management, focusing on foundational concepts, strategic development, and effective communication strategies within organizations. Students will gain insights into key factors influencing compensation strategies, pay structure design, employee benefits, and communication techniques to ensure organizational alignment and employee satisfaction.

Employee Relations - 20 Hours

This course explores the critical role of fostering positive relationships between employers and employees and provides a thorough understanding of the strategies and practices essential for cultivating harmonious and productive workplace environments.

Human Resource Information Systems - 60 Hours

This course introduces students to Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) concepts, theories, and practical applications within organizations. Students will explore the benefits of HRIS systems, key concepts, functions, selection and implementation processes, and analytical tools and reporting features.

Introduction to Business - 40 Hours

This course provides an overview of fundamental business concepts, theories, and organizational structures. Students will explore the functions of various types of businesses, the impact of external environments on business operations, and the elements of Human Resource Management within organizations.

Labor Relations - 40 Hours

This course develops an understanding of labor relations principles and practices essential for managing employee-employer relationships effectively. Students will learn about legal frameworks, labor laws, unionization processes, collective bargaining, labor contracts, dispute resolution techniques, and current trends in labor relations.

Law & Ethics - 60 Hours

This course develops an understanding of legal frameworks, ethical principles, and regulatory requirements relevant to human resource management in Canada. Students will explore topics including contract law, tort law, business entities, agency law, employment law, intellectual property law, antitrust and competition law, consumer protection law, and environmental law.

Marketing - 40 Hours

This course introduces students to the concepts of marketing strategy. Students will learn the basic concepts of market analysis, market research, branding, and promotions. Product management will be discussed as a pivotal part of the marketing experience.

Organizational Behaviour - 60 Hours

This course provides an exploration of organizational behavior theories and practices essential for understanding the dynamics within organizations. Students will learn about foundational concepts, organizational design, individual and group behaviors, leadership styles, organizational culture, sources of power, and change management processes.

Professionalism - 40 Hours

Being a professional in a professional workplace ensures a positive first impression, successful interpersonal relationships, and a lasting reputation. This course provides training in leadership skills that ensure adaptability to a continually changing work environment. Topics covered include initiative, teamwork, and continuous learning.

Recruitment & Selection - 60 Hours

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of recruitment and selection processes, strategies, and techniques within organizations. Students will explore recruitment and selection concepts, trends, tools, diversity and inclusion considerations, candidate experience, and effective onboarding practices.

Training & Development - 60 Hours

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of training and development concepts, theories, and strategies essential for fostering employee growth and organizational success. Students will explore the importance of effective training, common concepts and theories, types of training activities, training needs assessments, learning theories, training design and development processes, and budgeting for training initiatives.

Wellness in the Workplace - 60 Hours

This course delves into the significance of wellness within the workplace and explores various concepts, theories, and strategies aimed at promoting employee well-being. Students will examine dimensions of personal wellness, health promotion strategies, and learn to design, implement, and manage effective employee wellness programs.

Workplace Planning and Talent Management - 60 Hours

This course provides an in-depth exploration of compensation and benefits concepts, theories, and strategies essential for attracting, retaining, and motivating employees within organizations. Students will delve into the importance of effective compensation and benefits, common concepts and theories, pay structure design, employee benefits, and communication strategies.

Workplace Health & Safety - 40 Hours

This course provides comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in workplace health and safety management for human resource coordinators. Students will learn about legal frameworks, risk assessment, safety management systems, safety policies and procedures, emergency preparedness, ergonomics, personal protective equipment, organizational culture, and incident investigation and reporting.

Practicum or Practical Project - 120 Hours

The Practicum experience is an integrated work and learning experience. Students are expected to complete a minimum of 120 hours of practical experience in the human resources sector. The course is designed to help students integrate academic learning with the realities of the work environment.

Total amount is inclusive of all program registration fees, training completion fund, ebooks and courseware. The tuition amount for Manitoba enrolment contracts also encompasses a Training Completion Fund (TCF) fee.

Program Accreditation

Robertson’s Human Resources Professional program is accredited by CPHR Manitoba. Graduates of the program are eligible to bypass writing the National Knowledge Exam (NKE) required for CPHR designation by completing an NKE waiver.
