Tips for Preparing for Back to School 2021

Back to School 2021 tips

Heading back to school is exciting but it can also feel overwhelming. Here are some tips on how to get yourself ready to hit the books, whether you’re studying on-campus or online.

  • Create a comfortable study space. Your space can impact how well you focus so try to set up a comfortable environment! Get a nice desk and supportive chair and try your best to limit your distractions so you can make the most of your study time.
  • Connect with your peers. Even if you’re studying virtually, there are online study groups you can join so you can connect with your peers socially or for group projects. Your classmates are in the same boat as you so don’t be afraid to lean on them for comradery and support.

  • Prioritize your mental health. School can get busy and if you overwork yourself, your mental health could suffer. Try to develop good study habits and keep a work/life balance – both can help your mental health.
  • Move your body. Your mental and physical health are connected so try to move your body even a little bit during the day! A quick ten-minute walk can boost your mood, get your blood flowing and rejuvenate you for your next study session.

  • Talk to your instructors. Your instructors are here to support you, so talk to them! They’re happy to answer your questions, work through any challenges and support you through your courses.

  • Start studying ASAP. It can be tempting to just “do it later” and skip studying for another activity, but it’ll help you in the long run if you can start your studying and assignments early. Try doing a little bit every day instead of cramming it all the night before it’s due – you’ll thank yourself later!

  • Take breaks. Breaks are essential when it comes to studying. They give your brain a chance to recharge and are arguably just as important as studying itself.

  • Have fun! At the end of the day, college is a special time and as busy as it can be, it’s important to enjoy the ride. We hope you still find fun moments and enjoy your time at Robertson!
